If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I get a call from Scott this morning (which I normally love when he calls me from work). Our neighbor’s girlfriend’s sister’s boyfriend noticed that Scott’s truck had a flat tire, so I made a trip to Wal-mart for Fix-a-flat, all the while cursing big huge truck tires that cost three times the amount of one tire for Putt-Putt. I think we should go back to the horse and buggy.
At least yesterday was relaxing. We took Mandie and Melodie to the lake for the first time. We went with our friends, Angie, Dave and Tom and had a blast. I totally felt like such a mom. I had towels, sunscreen, extra leashes, the girls’ water bowl, bug spray, snacks, etc. Now imagine if I had a toddler to add the mix. I don’t know how some women do it.
The girls had a blast. Mandie practically dragged Scott into the water and the lab in her totally came out. She kicked those four inch legs with all she had. Melodie was a little less excited. For the first half hour, she refused to even look at the water but once all of us were in, I looked over my shoulder and there she was, easing her way in. She eventually made it up onto a log to sit with me and then was promptly dumped into the water when Mandie decided she was in the way. That put the end to Melodie’s career as a water dog and until she was dry, I spent my time making sure she didn’t roll in the dirt.
It was a good way to celebrate our first year with Mandie. I was able to find a picture of Mandie when she was on Petfinder. She looks so sad!
